In this class, you will learn to dance Cuban Salsa on the second beat of the music (2-3-4, 6-7-8 instead of 1-2-3, 5-6-7).
Most Salsa music in actually ”made” to dance Son/Contratiempo. The reason most dance schools teach students to dance on 1 is simply because it’s easier to learn. But that doesn’t mean it’s ”better.”
Dancing on 2 is actually connecting with the music on a deeper level. It’s more in-tune with the music and therefore provides a richer, somewhat trance-like feeling.
Most professional dancers prefer to dance on 2 & and any aspiring advanced salsa dancer will have to learn it eventually.
In this class, you will learn body-movement techniques that you can use in social dancing—simply executed ”on 2”. Anything you learn in this class, you can also dance in your normal salsa dancing (which is on1).
